Internal flow characteristics and atomization performance of mine rotary core nozzle

  • In order to study the internal flow and atomization effect of the rotary core nozzle for coal mine, combining CFD simulation and experiment, we use VOF to DPM (Volume of Fluid to Discrete Phase Mode) model and mesh self-adaptive technology to analyse the atomization mechanism. We set up a simulation model to study the pressure and velocity distribution of the flow field inside the nozzle, as well as the morphology of the external spray and the fragmentation process; we explore the effects of different incident pressures and viscosities on atomization characteristics. Simulation results indicate that an increase in the nozzle inlet pressure leads to higher fluid velocity, a larger atomization angle, improved atomization efficiency, and a reduction in the Sauter Mean Diameter of droplets. The study reveals that pressure significantly enhances atomization by increasing fluid kinetic energy and turbulence intensity, and clarifies the transition characteristics of atomization patterns between high- and low-pressure ranges. The aforementioned findings provide a theoretical basis for nozzle structural optimization and operational condition selection.
