Abstract:
This study addresses the slope stability issues in the mining plan of the Xiwan open-pit coal mine. By integrating the engineering geological conditions, mechanical properties of rock and soil masses, and hydrogeological characteristics of the mining area, the limit equilibrium method and the finite element strength reduction method were employed to systematically analyze the stability of the working slope, end slopes, and inner dump under both natural and saturated conditions. The results show that under natural conditions, the stability factors of slopes in all zones meet the specification requirements; however, under saturated conditions, the stability factor of certain local sections approaches the critical value, revealing the weakening effect of rainfall infiltration on the mechanical parameters of rock and soil masses and its significant impact on slope stability. Numerical simulations reveal that the failure mode is dominated by circular slip surfaces, and special attention should be paid to potential sliding risks such as displacement concentration in silty clay layers and stress concentration at the slope toe.
